five year old gsd x kelpie rescue boy

Simba

Simba is an adorable and cute five-year-old, medium-sized German Shepherd and Kelpie mix dog.

He’s very well house-trained, great with humans (though we’re not sure about children), very loyal, protective, always seeking affection, attention and always following you everywhere. He barks only occasionally and will stop when commanded to. Doesn’t chew on objects, and responds to certain commands, especially if they involve food.

Simba sleeps in his own bed, but in our room (so his new owner(s) will have to adjust to this). He’s a very energetic dog, loves his daily walks (especially in quiet places with few people and no other dogs), running around (he always invites you to play), car rides, stretching on the grass, being curious, and being involved in everything.
Due to his socialisation issues (or lack of it) and his shepherd-kelpie nature, he needs a new home with NO other pets or livestock. A fenced backyard is highly recommended, as he needs to burn off his energy daily. When there is rain, thunderstorms, wind or noise he tends to hide under the bed or behind a piece of furniture.

As mentioned, his daily walks should be in a quiet place away from other dogs and people (always on a leash and a halter) and if you see other people with dogs approaching it’s best to move away.

In a park, he can be let off his lead when there are no other dogs around and he will run and play with you. Maintain a perimeter and return on command. But if he sees another dog near “his” perimeter, he may not respond to command, as well (this is Simba’s only drawback).

He will do very well with adults who are committed to his socialisation and care and can handle situations that may arise due to his lack of socialisation.

Best outcomes: For the best possible outcome for each adoption we do prefer that you come to us and meet the dog or puppy in person.
Please note: Even though you may be first to apply, this does not always guarantee you will be chosen to adopt. By no means do we run on a “first in, first served basis”. We aim to ensure that our animals are adopted into the most suitable home for them and the new family.

*The adoption fee includes microchipping on the NSW Companion Animal Register, desexing, C5 vaccination, intestinal worm and flea treatment. Council registration for rescue dogs in NSW is $27.50 and $23 for pensioners. (This is included in the adoption fee).
