Meet Darlene and Dougie, 10 week old, staghound x border collie x kelpie pups. This beautiful pair are settling well into home life and coming out of their shells well. Dougie is definitely the more cuddly of the two, whereas Darlene will happily keep to herself and can be a bit timid at times.
Both sleep inside in a crate, but love being outdoors during the day. They are typical staghounds when it comes to appetite and only eat what they feel like. They sit for dinner and are about 80 percent there with house training.
They are both dog and kid friendly, however they still find the big dogs a bit scary. They both love to play with toys and wrestle with each other.
ADOPTION CRITERIA
A home with a medium to large backyard with grass, shelter, and secure fencing.
A home with or without children, they must be dog savvy children who can handle a puppy now and a larger dog in the near future.
A home with or without another dog. If another dog is in residence already, we seek a dog who is well socialised and tolerant.
A daily walk, especially if they’re an only dog.
A lot of love and dedicate time to training. Dougie or Darlene should be welcomed as part of the family and not just left on their own in the backyard all the time. They need to have owners who are home more often than not, or as mentioned above another dog to keep company.
To submit an expression of interest for Dougie or Darlene please email Lorraine on lorraine@awar.org.au

Best outcomes: For the best possible outcome for each adoption we do prefer that you come to us and meet the dog or puppy in person.
Please note: Even though you may be first to call, this does not always guarantee you will be chosen to adopt. By no means do we run on a “first in, first served basis”. We aim to ensure that our animals are adopted into the most suitable home for them and the new family.
