This beautiful looking girl is Betty. A three year old Bloodhound cross, possibly with Beagle by the look of her markings.
Betty has a lovely nature, is good with children but is a bit unco and may knock little kids over in her enthusiasm. She has been hanging out with a Jack Russell so as far as we know she is also fine with other dogs.
OK so now some general scent-hound characteristics for you. If you’ve never owned scent-hound you’ll need to know that they are bred to hunt, “nose down, tail up” says it all. So they need good fencing. Most of them cannot be let off-lead except of course in enclosed runs. A long lead works well to give your hound a bit more freedom.
Betty does love to run and explore so a biggish yard and regular walks to keep her stimulated are for this lovely dog. Scent-hound may not be good with small pets either.
