Benji is a only a little man, we think Chihuahua x Mini Foxy. He is an active little man who loves to follow his humans around the house but also loves a nap on the couch. He is a little hesitant/nervous to be held or cuddled at this stage, but he is warming up to his human foster parents. He definitely wants to know where you are and once he is comfortable with his environment he will crave knowing what you’re doing.
He will happily curl up right next to you on the couch too, but he is a little fickle in that he needs to approach you to seek affection. He is also cautious of our kids as I don’t think he has ever been exposed to them; however, he is warming up to them too. I feel with some time and confidence he will make a great little companion.
He plays well with our other dogs, both young and exuberant and old and grumpy, and he can seem to read them well. He will definitely tell the other dogs if he has had enough. He does try to be little dominant at times with a growl but doesn’t hurt them. He is not overly keen on playing with toys, he would rather just explore his surroundings and follow around his humans. He would be fine with other dogs or as a single pet. We don’t know much about his history but what we do know is he a definite NO with Cats.
In terms of food, I feel he has been able to graze on food throughout the day at his previous home.
He is learning to eat once a day when his other fur mates do. He doesn’t eat much at all and is happy
with his dry kibble only, he isn’t a fan of raw meat. He does however love a little snack here and
there throughout the day.
In terms of training, he knows his name and will come to it but he doesn’t know basic commands
such as sit, drop etc. He loves a walk though and walks well on a lead.
He lives happily outside each day whilst we are at work in a big backyard; but he loves to see you
come home and greets you accordingly with a very waggly tail. He is also ok with a chook who lives
in our backyard in a fenced off area. He is interested in it but hasn’t tried to eat it as of yet!

Best outcomes: For the best possible outcome for each adoption we do prefer that you come to us and meet the dog or puppy in person.
Please note: Even though you may be first to apply, this does not always guarantee you will be chosen to adopt. By no means do we run on a “first in, first served basis”. We aim to ensure that our animals are adopted into the most suitable home for them and the new family.
*The adoption fee includes microchipping on the NSW Companion Animal Register, desexing, C5 vaccination, intestinal worm and flea treatment. Council registration for rescue dogs in NSW is $27.50 and $23 for pensioners. (This is included in the adoption fee).
