Opi is an eight month old Kelpie cross pup. He and his foster guardians are currently conducting interviews for potential for-ever companion and stewards.

Opi is a mixed blend pup. Not clear on genetics – rescued from a rural pound up north as kelpie cross.

But as he grows, physically and characteristically expresses as if he’s possibly blended with a Bull-Arab, Pointer, Hound or Doberman type breed as well.

Opi is at his teenage stage of growth (eight months?) where he’ll require continued guidance and training. His curious and adventurous nature suggests he’ll turn into a beautiful life-time companion and not a dog to just be plonked in the back yard.

Opi can be very timid and his foster guardians are ensuring that his habitualisation and socialisation training are positive outcomes. This means lots of initial exposure to new ‘things’ are structured and positive to help assist Opi in becoming a sound and solid companion.

Please note that out of all our fosters, Opi will be the hardest to re-home by far as he is one of the coolest little dudes we’ve had the pleasure rescuing. He is extremely intelligent and super energetic. Only offering physical exercise won’t suffice. Like any young pup, he’ll also require mental stimulation, possibly in the form of trick training/obedience type activities and on-going guidance.

Opi currently lives in a very active house-hold with two humans, two felines and two canines. His current regime is physical exercise, obedience and life-skills training every other day and attends dog day care every fortnight at The Dog Education Centre Wodonga run by professional dog trainers. Thank you to Brydie and her team for there generosity for Opi’s training.
He also gets to go to his foster carers work on a farm once a week where he gets to meet other folks and practice crate training & being alone. Opi is crate trained and is an inside outside dog. Inside rules are sitting on his bed. We are embarking on his leash skills for walking on a lead at present.

Opi would suit an active household with people that have had prior experience and understanding of working type breeds dogs.
